The Kage Ngea of the Imbued are touched by Shadowmaw’s unforgiving pain. Their relationship to the world around them is complex. Their history is burdened with tragedy. Their existence is so cruel that few races can appreciate the intense burden placed upon them. The Kage-Ngea, or Mourners, take on the pain of the dying. Mourners find it is their role to ease the passage of the living into the embrace of Shadowmaw. They feel the intense sorrow of Memora at the loss of life. They are filters for this suffering, to prevent it from corrupting the very nature of Memora. They absorb the agony and turn it into the fuel that propels their actions. They walk a fine balance in bringing this peace. The Mourners have paid dearly to uphold their duty to Memora and Shadowmaw. They are marked by their pale skin, darkened eyes, marked foreheads, and the tears of blood that stain their faces.
